![]() ![]() As far as remakes go, this makes me think of something in between the Resident Evil 1 remaster (visual facelift) and Resident Evil 2 remake (modernizing of game). I just don't think the game design has aged well, even though the orignal game created the immersive sim shooter genre that went on to spawn Bioshock, Deus Ex, Dishonored, Prey, Control, etc. But that also means leaving in the 3D hacking minigame (which was terrible in the original), narrow labyrinthine levels, uninspired room design, boring enemies, and an aggressively ugly 90s aesthetic.Īgain, props to Nightdive for recreating the game. That's not a knock on the game or its design goals, they've clearly gone for as faithful of a remake as they can muster while modernizing the UI and graphics. ![]() I did watch a few video reviews after work, and they reinforced my (admittedly non-experiential) impression that the game isn't for me. I do have a problem (don't we all) where I don't even get around to playing the games I want to play in my Shame Pile, so downloading and playing a game I am skeptical of has a hard time bubbling to the top of the priority list.
